Color Dance Wins a 1st Prize in Clique Juried Show

My abstract image entitled "Color Dance - Corning, NY" was awarded "Best in Things" in the 32nd Annual Juried Competition sponsored by the Frederick Camera Clique. Three other prints were accepted into the show as well. The exhibit runs through September 5 at the Mary Condon Hodgson Gallery at Frederick Community College, 7932 Opposumtown Pike in Frederick, MD.

Exhibit of Historic Western Maryland Photos from A. Aubrey Bodine Donated to FSU

Featuring images from Allegany, Garrett, and Washington counties, more than 35 prints from the exhibit "Master Black-and-White Photographer A. Aubrey Bodine: Western Maryland Images from the 1940s-1960s" have been donated to Frostburg State University for scholarly use. I curated the show with Bodine's daughter, Jennifer, and arranged for the prints to be exhibited this Spring in Cumberland and Frostburg.


Three Photos Included in "Le Salon" on Market Street in Frederick

Three prints, "December's Lifeguard", "Silence and Storm", and "Vintage Garage" were on display as part of the "Le Salon" show at The Artists' Gallery (TAG) at 216 North Market Street in Frederick. The show, designed to celebrate the work of local and regional artists, closed at the end of August.

Four Prints Selected for Clique's Juried Show in Frederick

Four prints, "Iguazu Thunder", "Canal Dream #1", "Mountain Majesties", and "Meteor Grill" have been juried into the Frederick Camera Clique's 31st Annual Juried Exhibition. The show was on display at the Mary Condon Hodgson Gallery at Frederick Community College in August and September.

Five Prints Selected for Artist Angle's "Driven" Exhibit

My prints of "''Vette Mirror", "T-Bird Chevron", "No Naked Lights", "Vegas in Blue in White", and "Soaring Molten Pontiac" were accepted in the "Driven" show of automotive art at the Artist Angle Gallery in Frederick. The show closed at the end of July.

Two Prints Accepted for Juried National Show in Cumberland

Two of my prints -- "Chacras de Coria Textures" and "Vintage Garage - Freedom, WY" -- were accepted for display at the 3rd Annual Allegany National Photography Competition and Exhibition, sponsored by the Allegany Arts Council. The show was held at the Saville and Schwab Galleries in Cumberland, MD, in April.

Five Images Recognized for Awards at Dynamic Photo Conference

Five of my images received awards at the Dynamic Photography Conference held in late March in Reading, Pennsylvania. The images were "Vintage Garage - Freedom WY", "Lines & Textures - Washington, DC", and "Both Sides Now - Elk Refuge, Jackson Hole, WY" in the black-and-white category and "'Vette Hood Abstract" and "Portovenere Waterfront - Ligurian Coast, Italy" in the color category. The conference was sponsored by the Berks Photographic Society and featured several nationally prominent speakers.


"Silence & Storm" Named BetterPhoto.com All-Time Staff Favorite in International Competition

My image entitled "Silence & Storm - Doolin, Ireland" earned the status of "All-Time Staff Favorite" in BetterPhoto.com's 20th Anniversary All Time Best Contest. More than 16,000 photos were evaluated in the international contest. You also can view the photo in the "Magical Places" gallery of this website.


E-Greeting Card Site Interviews Martin

Harmony Wishes, an electronic greeting card website for fine arts photography, selected six of my newer images for its gallery of customizable e-cards. The subscription-based site offers online greeting cards that incorporate art-quality photography with a meaningful message and a personal touch. Megan Matlach, the owner of the site, interviewed me for a posting on the HarmonyWishes blog and issued a news release about my photography.

Martin Serves as Judge for Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts in State College, PA

The Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts invited me to be a juror for its 2014 Sidewalk Sale and Exhibition. The Festival attracted hundreds of multi-media artists and at least 100,000 visitors to State College, PA in July 2014. The Arts Festival recently ranked first on the list of 100 Best Fine Art and Design Shows in America published by Sunshine Artist magazine.
